Course Description
The Managing Mental Health Course is designed to give workplace leaders the tools and knowledge to successfully promote positive mental health at work.
Attendees will not only understand more about mental health (including the legal guidelines around mental health at work), but will learn how to have mental health conversations with staff, which can often prove challenging.
All of this learning takes place whilst establishing the safe boundaries to protect the mental health of everyone involved.
Course Learning Objectives
The New Leaf Managing Mental Health Course comprises of four modules, giving your managers a baseline understanding of mental health and the core skills to promote mental wellbeing, as well as contextualising all of this learning from a management perspective.
The course is designed to support your managers to:
- Improve emotional intelligence and understanding of mental health at work.
- Recognise the legislation and guidelines around mental health at work.
- Learn how to manage stress, improve resilience and break down stigma.
- Build trusting relationships by effective listening.
- Know the referral processes and what to do in a crisis.
- Adopt the mantra of looking after “yourself” as well as others.
- Recognise how to establish boundaries and understand the principles of safeguarding for vulnerable staff.
What's the Format of the Course?
The Managing Mental Health Training Course is a full-day course, which can be hosted either online or face-to-face.

The online course runs in exactly the same way as the face-to-face course, so delegates will won’t lose out on any knowledge or exprience by attending online.
