Vitamin D, also known as the sunshine vitamin, is in short supply over the autumn and winter months. Our bodies rely on sunshine to be able to synthesize enough vitamin D to keep our bones and muscles healthy, which is only achievable during the summer months. Having enough vitamin D is also linked to an improved immune system, lower risk of cardiovascular disease and improved mental health.
